The Brass Tea Kettle Rengay

(Published at Outlaw Sketchbook)

my dry bones

wick up fall's humidity-

the brass tea kettle

night of stars

the iron courting candle burns low

fireplace flames

leap orange, red, yellow-

glow of the poker

over the bar

fireproof tinsel hung

on a velvet dog rug

marshmallows in hot chocolate

a woman turns in her wheelchair

no more rocky road

our thermals and snowshoes

instead of ice cream
